Treasurer, Executive Committee
Tooronga Toastmasters Club Inc. · Melbourne
Two years as Treasurer on the executive committee of Tooronga Toastmasters Club, helping the new club achieve its charter through the COVID years.
Overview
Toastmasters International clubs help members build public speaking and leadership skills. Jenks was Treasurer on the executive committee of Tooronga Toastmasters Club Inc. — named after the Melbourne suburb of Tooronga — for two years. The club no longer meets.
What Jenks did
- Managed the club's finances as Treasurer.
- Helped the club through the chartering process during COVID, when meetings moved online.
- Practised and coached prepared and impromptu speaking.
Why it matters to employers
Jenks's comfort on conference stages was trained deliberately. Helping a club charter in a pandemic is a small but real example of starting an organisation from zero.
